A double entendre refers to spoken words that have two meanings one obvious and the other intending a meaning which can be ironic, risque or ambigious. To me; however, this double entendre is the spoken words having one meaning and the scene in the movie belying that meaning. Bella's words dying in the place of someone she loves gives the feel of nobleness but the killing of the deer does not. If the deer represents someone who loves God and the death of that deer is to feed the insatiable blood lust of a fallen angel; well there is nothing noble in that act. The scene and voice are more like a bait and switch act. Is this a stretch? I think not. Whether the author, Stephenie Meyer's, knows what is going on is debatable and no, this is no great piece of literature, but it is a message. There is someone who knows the word of God and has twisted it and used it to deceive the sheep and the goats of this planet for millenia. I'm not talking animals, I'm talking people. God classifies people into two categories sheep and goats (Matthew 25:33). "Twilight" opens with the first recorded twisiting of God's word in Genesis 2:17. Page 24 of "Twilight" we have our first reference to Eve despite the fact it is a cliche. Page 43 we are introduced to the musical voice (Exekiel 28:12) and on page 67 she's dreaming of Edward Cullen. Jeremiah 23:25-29 speaks of dreams and more than dreams. Here is the passage in
What I find so incredibly fascinating when I pair the word of God with the scenes from the movie and pages from the book is how it reveals the truth behind the story. Satan and demons are out to steal,kill and destroy and are very successfull.
There is no vampire, wolfman or creature from hell who is able to or ever will save you.
