The Devil is come down unto you . . .

Image
This verse is Revelation 12:12 and the entire verse reads, Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. You should take time to read the entire book of Revelation - we are living somewhere between it's pages. Make no mistake Satan is not your friend. He will not be ruling in Hell. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever. It's hard to rule when you are being tormented. Hell is God's domain, not Satans. Mark 8:36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? There are many many people in every realm becoming incredibly wealthy at the feet of satanic devices. Some may just be

"The Twilight Saga" and the Issue of Blood, Breath and Eyes

Vampires drink blood. The Cullens are somehow portrayed as a cut above other vampires because they only drink the blood of animals. I don't think anyone who saw the movies can forget the scene in "New Moon," as the men, women and children are being led into the inner chamber of the Volturi to be slaughtered like sheep. Or the scene in "Eclipse," where the newborn army is feasting and fighting over the human beings they have captured for their bloodfeast. What does God have to say about the consumption of blood? Leviticus 17:10-14 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. 11. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. 12. Therefore I sa

Break Time

It is time for a respite from the machinations of an ancient, superior, immortal being -- albeit a created being and not the CREATOR . I love the Word of God, the Bible, it says of itself in Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Jeremiah 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10. I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. These verses here in Jeremiah are a relief to me. I know how rotten the course of my thoughts run through a day and so does God. I simply can't hide it from Him. So, I've made a practice of just trying to acknowlege that deceitfulness and wickedness before Him and trust in the Savior God sent for me -- John 3

A Woman Rides the Beast in "twilight"

Image
There are two scenes in the "Twilight" movie that I considered to be absurd. Both were when Edward threw Bella on his back and moved at lightning speed. I also wondered at the scene in "New Moon" in Volterra the signifigance of all the scarlett robes and later Edward dons a red robe of his own. It came to me this morning that what I was seeing was the symbology for the woman of Revelation who rides the beast. Revelation 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. We are told in the next two verses who that woman is Revelation 17:4-5 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: and upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIO

"Twilight's" Puff of Smoke

Image
I am always surprised at where things lead me. When I was reading the "Twilight Saga" I promised myself that no matter how inconsequential something seemed I would highlight it and research it later. Sometimes I would get so caught up in the story I would forget to highlight and would have to go back through that section. Page 87 had two sections that caught my eye, the first is "It was hard to believe that someone so beautiful could be real. I was afraid that he might disappear in a sudden puff of smoke, . . ." The second movie "New Moon" acutally showed Edward disappearing as a puff of smoke. Running the reference on smoke in the bible led me of all places to the description of leviathan in Job 41. I was stunned at how much of the description reminded me of the vampires of "Twilight." You can read Job 41 for yourself but here are some of the descriptions Job 41:3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto the

Double Entendre

Image
"Twilight" the movie opens with the voice of Bella reciting the preface of the book "Twilight" but on the movie screen we see a small deer by a water brook. Immediately, two scriptures came to my mind - the first was in reference to the visual and is Psalm 42:1 As the hart (deer) panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. The second scripture verse was in response to the spoken words and is John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. A double entendre refers to spoken words that have two meanings one obvious and the other intending a meaning which can be ironic, risque or ambigious. To me; however, this double entendre is the spoken words having one meaning and the scene in the movie belying that meaning. Bella's words dying in the place of someone she loves gives the feel of nobleness but the killing of the deer does not. If the deer represents someone who loves God and the

"Twilight's" Edward Cullen a "son" of God?

Image
Is Edward Cullen a typology for a "son" of God as designated in Genesis 6:2 & 4? Genesis 6:1-4 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2. That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4. There were giants in the earth in those days and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. There is one line of biblical teaching that teaches these verses refer to the offspring of Cain, the son, of Adam and Eve who killed his brother, Abel. There is another viewpoint; however, that teaches these are angelic beings which according to Jude 6 And the angels which kept not their f

What is in a name? "Twilight's" name game.

Everything! The meaning of my name truly personifies me. I always like to arrange the meanings of names into a cohesive thought which by neccessity sometimes takes the name out of it's given order. Fortunate but bitter rope that constrains would be the cohesive meaning for my given names but it is in reverse order with my surname, middle name and first name last. So what is in the name Edward Anthony Masen Cullen. Edward is translated rich guard and while there was no clear meaning for Anthony the best I could find was flourishing. Masen is another spelling for Mason which means stone worker. Masons are actually a society of people with esoteric practices known only to its members. The true meanings of those practices are known only to the highest of initiates. Masons could also be considered the architects then of not only the buildings they built but the symbols that are dispersed throughout those structures. Cullen was in and of itself an enigma with the meaning ranging

Where am I coming from regarding the "Twilight Saga" -- do I hate it, do I love it, or am I simply ambivalent?? Growing up in the late 50s and 60s the best offering for a vampire were old Bela Lugosi movies followed by Christopher Lee. Then came the daytime soap opera "Dark Shadows" and American preteens and teens were running home from school as fast as they could to catch the last 15 minutes of the show and waiting for summer so they could see the entire episode. It was the first time in American culture that the adolescence population could have a daily feeding of ghost, vampires, werewolves, time travel, parallel universe etc. It was an amazing five years and almost everyone I knew was involved in the world of Dark Shadows, especially Barnabas, Quentin and their love interest or hatred Angelique. Then in 1971 Dark Shadows ended and by then I was a freshman in high school and had other things on my mind besides characters in a soap opera. In 1974 I actually

Is the Twilight Saga derived from supernatural inspiration?

Stephenie Meyer in her many interviews always answered the question, "Where did you get the idea for "Twilight"?" with the response, "from a dream on the morning of June 2, 2003." Interviews contain comments by Stephenie on how real that dream was to her. Comments that she could hear the young couple's voices in her head talking and she would rush to get down what they were saying. She alluded in one interview that she felt like she had been guided through the process of writing "Twilight." (A Motley Vision by Wm: 10-26-05.) She had difficulty accepting that Edward and Bella weren't real people and that she still doesn't entirely believe that. (Cynsations by Cynthia Leitich Smith 3-27-06.) And finally she said that she had an additional dream after she finished "Twilight" in which a disgruntled Edward visited her and took exception to the fact that she failed to portray him as a human blood drinker which he indeed wa

Twilight the Saga from an Angel of Light

I am a newcomer to the Twilight Saga and it is understandable why the fascination has raged for six years. Vampires live for millenia so why shouldn't the storyline? I found it interesting and revealing that Stephenie Meyer opened the book "Twilight" with the fall of man from Genesis Chapter 2. However, I think she left out the most important point of that passage, "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. . ." Genesis 2:1. What is "subtil?" First, it is the archaic spelling of the modern word subtle which according to my trusty Webster means 1. thin; tenuous; not dense 2. making fine distinctions or marked by mental keeness 3. delicately skillful; deft 4. crafty; sly 5. not grossly obvious 6. not easily detected. I believe all of those can easily be applied to the character, Edward Cullen, not to be confused with the actor, Robert Pattinson, who plays the part of Edward Cullen. But whose pa
