"Fletch Lives" unfortunately it's in most of your local churches!
"Fletch Lives" was released in 1989. It is a silly Chevy Chase movie set in south Louisiana. It is a combination parody of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and Jim and Tammy Baker. Fletch demonstrates the deception employed in so many churches today while showing the people attending those churches to be easy marks taken in by all the glitz and showmanship of the hawkers (pastors and their staff).
One problem with the modern day church attendee is that because the "pastor" is a "Christian" surely he will not tell a lie and break one of the big ten on the commandment list. NOthing could be further from the truth -- modern pastors will say anything to get YOUR MONEY.
If you want to see what fools fill church pews today just grab a bag of popcorn and rent "Fletch Lives." If it is too close for comfort to the church you are attending - have some gumption -- leave that church and try to find one that is teaching the bible in CONTEXT. Get out of any church that is simply putting on a silly show while trying through any number of contrivances to seperate you from your money!!
It's been 23 years since "Fletch Lives" and you think churches would have made sure they were moving away from that model that Hollywood so vividly demonstrated in "Fletch Lives." Instead, it seems as though churches all over the U.S.A. have run as fast as they can to incorporate the profane mockery found in "Fletch Lives." Churches rushing to construct their own "Bible Land Amusement Park" to draw in the crowds and the big bucks!
Can we all say "Holy Land Experience." What a profane parody built by ungodly hawkers of the gospel; figuring bigger and better ways to steal your money. Stay home and wait for your real Holy Land Experience when you come back with Christ as His Bride.
It's hard to fish from a pier where there is no water, that translates into nothing for supper; therefore, nothing to eat. This is what most churches really look like today if people would open their eyes! No hope of getting anything worth eating to fill their spiritual belly. Open your eyes! Is your church just a cracked and dry place, that doesn't fill that longing in your spirit to understand and comprehend the love of God for you through His son Jesus Christ, and His death, burial and resurrection?
