Skyfall - a review

The new James Bond movie is released every two to three years in November and has been a long time date for our anniversary.  Skyfall was our 32nd anniversary date.

I've seen every Bond movie ever made and read all Ian Flemings, Bond books, though I can't remember a single book.  Old Age!

Roger Moore is my least favorite Bond.   All the rest I like pretty evenly.

To me James Bond is about being a spy on the suave and sophisticated level.  Somehow James Bond always came out of a fight looking totally GQ.  And he always had the latest and greatest electronic equipment made to look like everyday utilities of life - belts, shoes, watches, etc.

Now that production has passed from Broccoli's hands to his daugther's, I can't say that I've been all that happy.

I think Daniel Craig is an excellent Bond.  However, the new Bond was brutally abused by his nemisis in "Casino Royale" while "Quantam of Solace" just seemed to be one long feast of violence.  I just simply don't like brutality and violence on that level and I'm a "He-man" movie kinda gal.  So, it was  a relief to see that brutality toned down in "Skyfall."

Unfortunately, I saw wanton disregard for humanity when Bond just simply helped himself to Silva's (Javier Bardem's) sex slave.  There was just something in that scene that bothered both my husband and myself.  The disregard for someone who had been a sex slave since childhood was unsettling.

If you saw "No Country for Old Men," then you will remember Javier Bardem as the psychotic assasin.  He recreates that role in "Skyfall" but with so much more flair.  He is creepy as the insane villian.  His last scene with "M" was quite over the top and you will enjoy.

Overall, I really enjoyed "Skyfall" and for all the Bond lovers out there I recommend it and liked it much more than Craig's two previous Bond movies.

In this day of high tech walking around with us every where we go - I guess the old Bond gadgetry is passe.  I'm sure that I'm not the only one that misses those gadgets!

Go enjoy "Skyfall" it's got some neat twist and unexpected turns!
