A deeper dive into the Asbury Revival


I found this article quite interesting exploring the background and tie ins to various high profile "Christian" leaders such as Frances Chan, Rick Warren and Lou Engle to the Asbury Revival. God's word is clear that if you seek God you will find Him. So, I do believe many people were touched by this supposed "revival" however, we are also urged to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.
How does one do that? Well, we are told by God's word to test all things and hold fast to what is good I Thessalonians 5:19 and test the spirits to see if they are from God for many false prophets have gone out into the world I John 4:1. And every where I look there are people prophesying over this revival and claiming all manner of things God showed them through dreams and visions in the past and now it's all about Asbury. Well Jonah the prophet knew exactly where he was to go "Nineveh" and exactly what he was to say, "Yet forty days and Nineveh shall be overthrown" and the people of Nineveh believed GOD and they called for a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest of them to the least of them." Jonah 3:4-5. So, if all those "prophets and dreamers" saw this then they should have been there when the revival broke out. In other words, we don't simply check our brains at the door and go by our feelings or emotions and what some supposed man or woman of God says.
The one thing I have absolutely learned in my journey with Jesus, is outside of His written Word the Bible, I am up for all kinds of trouble and have absolutely no discernment.
I also find it interesting that the movie "Jesus Revolution" and this "revival" coincided. We went to the movie last night with friends and family. We attend a Calvary Chapel. The movie was inspirational and quite realistic to the failings and faults and messiness of we humans, saved or not. From my reading of scripture, the "Great end times Revival" comes in the Tribulation and before His return Jesus Christ asked, "Would He find faith?" Luke 18:8

In the end God will sort it all out, but until then I will be a prayerful skeptic reading God's Word in Context.

What is in a name? "Twilight's" name game.

Everything! The meaning of my name truly personifies me. I always like to arrange the meanings of names into a cohesive thought which by neccessity sometimes takes the name out of it's given order. Fortunate but bitter rope that constrains would be the cohesive meaning for my given names but it is in reverse order with my surname, middle name and first name last. So what is in the name Edward Anthony Masen Cullen. Edward is translated rich guard and while there was no clear meaning for Anthony the best I could find was flourishing.
