I have been so blessed in my life.  The greatest blessing was and is my salvation.  I will never forget the day that the Holy Spirit convicted me of my sins and I ran weeping to the bottom of that stage.  There was no altar.  I got saved at a Christian Concert.  The singer was Sammy Hall.  The place was the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College gym.  The time was March 1976, thirty seven years ago.  That started the long never ending process of sanctification.  No, I will never be free of sin as long as I am in this earthly fallen body captured by gravity on this planet.  But I keep working towards the mark. First to Jack the Giant Slayer, which is the only one of these four movies that I actually liked.  Jack the Giant Slayer had a good storyline, good acting and other than the token gross scenes with the Giants and the evil sidekick of the antagonist it was pretty clean.  I recommend Jack the Giant Slayer for older kids. Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters was not that good.  I thought this movie was incredibly brutal.  The bad witches were horribly ugly and of course they were pitted against a good witch.  As a Christian witchcraft is forbidden and there is no such thing as a good witch/bad witch it is all witchcraft.  I do not recommend this movie at all. If you know anything about American politics, you know we have a saying "Rhino."  Rhino means: Republican in name only.  In other words if you are tagged a Rhino it means you do not stand nor vote the true Republican views of conservatism.  God, Country and Guns could probably best sum up the traditional Republican views. Let me back into my blog today.  I've been tossing around in my head the things I wanted to write as we start 2013 and now I'm going to toss it out there. I am angry, we are angry here in the USA.  Research conducted by one of my extended family members indicates that our family first came to the shores of this once great nation in 1696.  We are of Scottish descent from my Mother's line.   However, like most Americans who have been in this country for that long, we are called Heinz 57 just a blend of many different people groups.  I won't be going back to Scotland -- I am an American.  Ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War (we've always lived in the South).  My father, uncles, brothers, husbands, son, fought or were in military service during WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraqi War.  So I am tied lock, stock and barrel to my country the USA. I don't remember how old I was when I first read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ring trilogy . . . but I was totally enamored of them.  When the animated movie of The Hobbit was released with Orson Bean giving voice to Bilbo Baggins, well, I was thrilled.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077687/ But nothing can express the anticipation I felt waiting for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy to arrive in full living color to the big screen!! The anticipation of "The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey" was nothing to compare with the LoR trilogy and so it arrived a little unexpected for me.  I was informed that it too, was going to be a trilogy . . . I got out my book looked at the 19 chapters and the 308 pages and said no way . . . and it was with a little disappointment that I went to see the first movie knowing I would not get the entire story in one sitting.
